NAWEC fires treasury supervisor, suspends director of finance over fraud allegations
The National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) has taken decisive motion, terminating the companies of its Treasury Manager and suspending its Director of Finance amid critical allegations of fraud.
The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation into the matter, which stems from a leaked phone dialog involving the Director of Finance and a purported Indian businessman.
The dialog reportedly detailed unauthorized monetary preparations, elevating issues over potential misconduct.
In an official assertion, NAWEC defined: “The decision to terminate the Treasury Manager and suspend the Director of Finance follows allegations of serious misconduct, including a phone conversation between the Director of Finance and a supposed supplier. The conversation involved unauthorized financial transactions that breached company policies and ethical guidelines.”
NAWEC reiterated its agency stance towards unethical practices, emphasizing its dedication to sustaining the best requirements of transparency, accountability, and the safeguarding of firm assets.
This transfer underscores NAWEC’s dedication to integrity and its zero-tolerance coverage in the direction of corruption. The investigation is ongoing, and additional updates will comply with because the matter progresses.
